Romans Study For Kids (Romans 11:1-6)

PPM-3.jpg

Romans 11:1-6 is ready!

Romans 11:1-6

1 I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?

“Lord, they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life.”

But what is the divine response to him? “I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”

In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God’s gracious choice.

But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

Read Romans 11:1. Once again we have a question.  What is the question?

God  __ __ __   __ __ __  rejected  __ __ __  people, has He?

How is this question answered?

__ __ __  it __ __ __ __ __  be!

What do we learn about Paul in Romans 11:1? Circle all that apply.

He is an Israelite

He likes hot dogs

He is a descendant of Abraham

He is from the tribe of Benjamin

His brother is a professional wrestler

Read Romans 11:2. What do you learn from the very first sentence in this verse? Has God rejected His people?

Yes             No           I Don’t Know

Read Romans 11:2-3. What question does Paul ask as he begins to explain his answer? Who does he ask us if we know about?

Moses           Elijah           Hercules            Columbus

Look up and read 1 Kings 19:14 and if you have time read 1 Kings 18:20-19:14 to get more of the story. Did Elijah think that there was anyone left in Israel who loved God?

Yes           No          I don’t know

Read Romans 11:4. How did Paul describe God’s answer to Elijah?

the  __ __ __ __ __ __  response

Do you know what divine mean? Grab a dictionary and look up what this word means in the English.

In the Greek this word is, chrématismos, and it is pronounced, khray-mat-is-mos‘. Try and say that out loud, khray-mat-is-mos’.

Could you say it?

Do you know this is the only time this word is used in the whole Bible! That’s pretty cool to know.

Read Romans 11:4 again.

Do you see how God’s answer to Elijah had to be a divine response? Is there any way that anyone on earth could have known how many people in Israel still loved God?

Yes           No         I don’t know

Who had kept these 7000 men from bowing the knee to Baal worship?

The king          Elijah        God        Doesn’t say

Who did God keep them for?

Elijah        The king        Their wives        Himself

Read Romans 11:5.

How does what God did during the days of Elijah compare to what He is doing today with the children of Israel? How does Paul begin Romans 11:5?

__ __   the   __ __ __ __   way

What does Paul say there is at this present time?

a  __ __ __ __ __ __ __

Do you know what a remnant is? A remnant is like a remainder. Do you know how to do a division problem with a remainder?

3divider

The 3 left over after the division problem above is the remainder… or remnant.

God has always left a remnant. If He had not protected and kept this remnant, no one would be saved.

Look up and read Romans 3:9-12.

We have already studied this, but remember everything that Paul is writing is building up His case for Christ and proving that the righteous live by faith. So as we study through Romans, we need to remember what we have already learned.

How many people are righteous and seek after God?

some          few         all         none

Let’s see God at work concerning His remnant. Look up and read Genesis 6:5-8. The word favor in this verse is the same word for grace.

THINK ABOUT IT…

God had every right to destroy the whole earth, but He kept for Himself a remnant. He made a way for Noah to be saved, and really anyone who would believe and join Noah on the ark.

Just like in the math division problem above, God over and over in history has allowed something or someone to come into the world to cause a division. Noah was used to cause a division. Abraham was used to cause a division. Moses was used to cause a division. The Law of God is used to cause a division. Jesus came and He caused a division. He still causes them. Look up and read Matthew 10:34-36.

Now what is left over after a division is called the remainder… or the remnant. What makes something a remainder? Think…

The remainder is something that is left over, because it cannot be divided.

When we are united with Christ (remember Romans 6:5) we cannot be divided (look up and read John 17:20-23).

Read Romans 11:5 again. How did this remnant of Israel come to be?

according to __ __ __ ‘s  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ choice

Read Romans 11:6. The remnant is God’s choice by His what?

__ __ __ __ __

What is the remnant NOT based on?

__ __ __ __ __

What would it mean if the remnant was based on works?

__ __ __ __ __  is no longer __ __ __ __ __

If being part of the remnant, or being saved, was based on our own works, could anyone ever be saved?

Yes            No          I don’t know

Whether we are Jew or Gentile… how are we saved? Look up and read Ephesians 2:8-9.

salvation is a __ __ __ __ of __ __ __

THINK ABOUT IT…

Paul begins Romans 11 by reminding us that he himself is a Jew. He is living proof that God has not forsaken the children of Israel.

Do you know anyone who is of Jewish descent but believes the gospel and is a Christian?

They too are proof that God has not forsaken the Jewish people, but has kept for Himself a remnant, just like He did in the days of Elijah.

This enough for today. We will learn even more tomorrow!

Romans Study For Kids (Romans 10:16-21)

PPM-3.jpg

With my Cross Guard kids at Shiloh we are already digging into Romans 11… so here is the handout for the rest of Romans 10. I am working on Romans 11:1-6 right now. Hopefully I will have it ready to post today 🙂

Today we are going to begin digging into Romans 10:16-21. Our focus today will be to take a close look at Romans 10:16-17.

Romans 10:16-21

However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

18 But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”

19 But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says, “I will make you jealous by that which is not a nation, By a nation without understanding will I anger you.”

20 And Isaiah is very bold and says, “I was found by those who did not seek Me, I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”

21 But as for Israel He says, “All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

Read Romans 10:16. What did they all NOT do concerning the good news? Circle your answer.

listen to it       repeat it         heed it

Look up and read Revelation 1:3. Who does this verse say is blessed? Fill in the blanks to answer.

blessed is he who __ __ __ __ __

blessed are those who  __ __ __ __ __

and __ __ __ __ the things which are written

Now just look up and read the passages below:

–  James 2:14-24

–  1 Corinthians 15:1-2

  • Matthew 7:21-27

After reading these passages, does it do us any good to hear the Word if we do not heed (or do) the Word? Circle your answer.

Yes                   No

Read Romans 10:16 again. What question did Isaiah ask the Lord?

LORD, who has __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ our report?

Look up and read Isaiah 52:13 – 53:12. What report did Isaiah give? Who do you think he is talking about? Whose story do you think he is telling? Circle your answer

George Washington becoming President

Jesus coming to die on the cross

Isaiah warning Israel about the Babylonians

Read Romans 10:17. Where does this verse say faith comes from?

__ __ __ __ __ __ __

Look up and read Matthew 11:15, Mark 4:9, Luke 8:8, and Luke 14:35. What does Jesus say over and over again.

He who has __ __ __ __ to __ __ __ __,

let him __ __ __ __.

Read Romans 10:17 again. If faith comes from hearing, what is it we need to hear?

the  __ __ __ __  of  __ __ __ __ __ __

THINK ABOUT IT…

Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. The last part of this verse can also be read by the word concerning Christ. What is this word of Christ? What is it that we need to hear about Christ?

Look up and read the following verses out loud:

John 1:29, John 3:16, John 3:36, John 6:40, John 11:25, and John 14:6.

When you read these verses and when you hear these verses, do you believe what they say?

Do you know that the word faith in the Greek is “pistis” and it means conviction of the truth of anything, belief.

So faith and belief are the same thing. To have faith in God we have to believe Him.

Do you believe Him?

How do you know that you believe Him?

What will we do if we believe what God says?

Why don’t you take a moment to look back at Romans 10:16.

If we believe, we will heed. We might have to learn to heed, but if we really believe we will heed. That’s enough for today! Why not take a moment to talk to God about what you believe about Jesus.

*********************   If you are doing this study with your child stop here and begin the rest tomorrow. We want to give them time to process all they have just learned******************

Let’s begin today by reading Romans 10:10-17 again for review and context.

Now let’s move on and read Romans 10:18. What question is asked?

surely they have __ __ __ __ __ heard, have they?

Read Romans 10:18 again. How is this question answered? Had they heard?

Yes          No

Where had their voice gone?

into all the __ __ __ __ __

Where had their words gone?

to the ends of the __ __ __ __ __

Read Romans 10:19. What question is asked?

surely Israel did  __ __ __  know, did they?

What did you read yesterday in Isaiah 53? What did you read about Abraham and David in Romans 4? Do you think Israel had heard?

Yes          No

Read Romans 10:19-20. What did God say that He was going to do because Israel would not believe Him?

make them __ __ __ __ __ __ __

Who would find God?

those who did not __ __ __ __ Him

those who did not __ __ __  for Him

Who do you think this nation, these people were that God was talking about? Circle your answer.

Indians      Giants       Gentiles      Smurfs

Read Romans 10:21. How long had God been trying to reach Israel?

__ __ __   the  __ __ __     __ __ __ __

How did God describe Israel in Romans 10:21?

__ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

and  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

THINK ABOUT IT…

Wow, Israel was just hard-headed and stubborn and would not listen. Now the question is… are you?

Why We Teach Them

PPM-3.jpg

As a children’s ministry leader there are days when you get tired. I am not sure a lot of people really understand what all goes into leading the children’s department at their church. Granted all churches have their own way of doing it and that often depends on the amount of kids you have.

I serve at an average size church. We are actually considered to be a “big church” by other churches in our area, but really compared to others in our county… we ain’t that big at all. Right now we run around an average of 50 kids in Bed Babies through 5th Grade for Sunday School (yes we are attempting to transition that into “small groups”, but please… everyone knows it’s still Sunday School).

Most Sunday’s I come home exhausted… completely spent. Then there are weeks when things just seem to be more than I can handle and I feel like I am doing no one justice and that I am letting all these kids down and that I just really don’t know what I am doing here. I will fight with my inner me and cry to my husband and pray to my Jesus. You know here lately He has been kind of quiet and not as touchy feely as He once was with me… and I thought it meant that I was doing something wrong.

Sometimes I forget that as He grows us in faith and in our knowledge and in our purpose… He often times has to back away from us for the sole purpose that we will once again chase after Him, running deeper into His divine will.

I had been wrestling with what I was doing here at my church… was God calling me into children’s ministry or calling me into service for such a time as this, just in this place, for this season? Should I go back to school, to seminary and get a theology degree? If I did how would this affect my Devotions From the Torah series… I am still only at the beginning stages of Exodus Part Two and I hoped to be ready for publication by the end of this year, but opportunities for writing have been slim… and then what about my speaking engagements (but I don’t have anything booked for this year yet… so if you need a speaker for an event I just might be free 😉

Anyways… I digress. The point being I had been doubting myself and my abilities… and my purpose and my patience… many times having my head buried in my hands as I asked God am I where You want me?

You know sometimes I forget how sneaky and slippery that serpent is… I am so thankful for the sovereignty of our God.

Not long ago I shared a post about my heart as a children’s ministry leader, Where I Want My Kids To Be When. This morning I was having a mini training session with a new teacher in my preschool Toddlers room… unfortunately it happened that on her first day both of the regular teachers were out sick and I had a room full of K – 5th Graders waiting on me. So I had to quickly give her the main run down and I shared with her that as I pray and seek guidance for teachers I pray for teachers that will teach not babysit.

I shared how I believe they can digest and understand much more than many times we give them credit for. I believe if we begin teaching them in Toddlers by the time they hit Pre-K they have a firm grasp of the gospel and by the time they pass through the children’s department, the Lord willing they will have received Christ as their Savior and have the conviction and vocabulary to explain and defend their faith… so that by the time they enter the youth they are ready to serve.

I believe this with all my heart.

Tonight I was blessed to be reminded that what I believe in my heart to be true is being lived out…

Tonight one mother, of a 1st grader shared with me how thankful she was for the way we taught her child. She said that he came home from school this past week sharing with her how a boy in his class told him that we all came from monkey’s… because of what he had been taught and seen for himself in God’s Word, he was not only able to tell this boy that he did not come from a monkey, but he was able to boldly share the truth of God’s Word with him… because he knew it and had studied it. Tonight he learned about Carbon-12 and Carbon-14 and isotopes… at church 🙂

Then after we had finished setting up for our co-op school I went back to my office and checked my phone and read a message from a wonderful family that attended our church but got moved a little further north. Every once in a while they get to come back here and visit… last week was one of those visits. There little girl just turned four years old.

The message read: “Days I miss you: ? came home from ss last week telling me about Habakkuk. Today I asked what her lesson was about. She said God loves everybody. I appreciate the sentiment but I miss the teaching she got at Shiloh.”

Why do we teach them about Habakkuk and Nahum and Micah and apologetics as toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, 1st Graders, etc?

Because they can learn it. That’s why.

What did your child learn at church today?

You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:14-17

To Coach or To Criticize

PPM-3.jpg

Our church is working through The Christian Parenting Handbook together. Well, the church is offering the study, not all of the church comes, but many of our parents are faithfully attending. This coming week we will be looking at the strategies given in chapters three and four. As I was looking over the Companion Guide I read this:

There are too many parenting tasks in a day to think that challenging every misbehavior is reasonable. When parents take a little time to study a child and develop a strategy to move forward, it can make the training process much easier and certainly more effective. Furthermore, kids view their parents differently seeing that they’re trying to help instead of simply criticizing them.

~ The Christian Parenting Handbook Companion Guide

Last night my husband leaned over and whispered something in my ear… He was asking if I had noticed a particular issue in one of our girls behavior and wanted to know if I concurred. I whispered back that yes I had been noticing it as well and was pondering what action to take, or if there was really a need for action concerning it.

What we have learned in our fifteen years of parenting together is that if something is a character issue we both will be alerted to it. We also have learned to assess the situation before we act… both of us had been monitoring this same issue for several months and taking mental notes… although, as of yet, we didn’t know the other had noticed the issue as well.

So when my husband leaned over and whispered in my ear what he whispered and I concurred… he said something that I love to hear… He said, “I’ll coach her on that, that’s a character issue, and it needs dealt with”

He will “coach” her on it.

This is a terminology that we have learned to use to describe the way we choose to parent our children. We watch them. We study them. We mull over what we see in them for a while. We mentally put a plan of action together before we ever call them out on the issue we see that needs addressed. We watch to see if this is a one time thing or a short phase or is it a reacquiring part of them that will be a struggle for them for the rest of their life if not changed. We also watch and pray so that we can be guided by the Holy Spirit to discover the root of the problem we are seeing. We don’t want to just keep the weeds cut back, but to yank them out by the roots.

Watching them for a while, and waiting for the right time, helps us to talk to them without the aggravated emotion of parental frustration. My husband also usually addresses the issue separate from its occurring. This way, hopefully, it is not addressed in a criticizing way, but in a let’s work on this together way… I believe this also helps to keep our girls from responding with defensive antagonism and they seem to listen better.

We have chosen to view our family as a team. A team works together to bring out the best in one another in order to accomplish one goal…

But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart

and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

Romans Study For Kids (Romans 10:5-15)

PPM-3.jpg

And we continue in Romans…

Romans 10:5-15

5 For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness.

But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down),

or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).”

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,

that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”

12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;

13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?

15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

Read Romans 10:5. What did Moses write about the man who practices which is based on the law?

He shall __ __ __ __ by that righteousness

The word “live” in the Greek is “zao”, and the verb tense of this word in this verse is explaining to us that the person who chooses to obtain righteousness through the law, must be the one who decides to obey the law and they have to have always obeyed the law even when a baby and they have to obey it all the way into eternity. So do you know anyone who could do that?

Read Romans 10:6. What word does verse 6 begin with?

__ __ __

(There’s that important word again!)

Read Romans 10:6-7 again. How does the righteousness based on faith speak?

Do not say in your heart, who will __ __ __ __ __ __ into heaven or who will __ __ __ __ __ __ __ into the abyss

Read Romans 10:8. What does righteousness based on faith say?

the __ __ __ __ is __ __ __ __ you, in your mouth and in your __ __ __ __ __

THINK ABOUT IT…

Can you take yourself to heaven? Can you raise yourself from the dead? Did you have to go to heaven to get God? Can you raise anyone from the grave? Could you stand before God and tell Him that He should save you according to how perfect you have been?

Now think about it… who came to who? Did God come for you? Did He bring His Word and His salvation to you? How far do you have to go to be saved? What do you have to do?

How amazing is it that God made His gift of salvation so easy that it doesn’t matter who you are or where you are at… anyone who believes can be saved. God brings His Word to us. Take a moment and just close your eyes and think about the Scripture verses that you have in your heart. Say one of them now. It doesn’t matter which one. Just say one.

See, God’s word is near you… in your mouth and in your heart.

Look up and read Deuteronomy 30:10-17. What has God always wanted us to turn toward Him? Circle the answer.

hands        heart        feet         eyes         ears

Read Romans 10:8. What is Paul preaching? Circle the correct answer.

Righteousness by the Law          Righteousness by faith

Read Romans 10:9. What must we do to be saved?

What must we confess?

__ __ __ __ __ as __ __ __ __

What must we believe?

God __ __ __ __ __ __ Him from the __ __ __ __

Where must we believe it?

in our __ __ __ __ __

The word “heart” in Romans 10:9 is “kardia” and it means the heart; mind, character, inner self, will, intention, center. This means you have to believe from the very center of who you are and with all that you are, every part of you believes in Jesus.

Read Romans 10:10 and draw a picture to complete the chart below.

With the  a person resulting in

believes

righteousness

confesses

salvation

Read Romans 10:11. What does the Scripture say? If we believe in Jesus will we be disappointed?

Yes               No

Read Romans 10:12 and answer the questions below.

Who is Jesus Lord over?

Jews          Gentiles           All

Who can call on Jesus to save them?

Jews            Gentiles          All

Read Romans 10:13. Let’s end today’s study by writing this verse out below. (If you can’t write say this verse three times today with your mom or dad.)

________________________________________________________________________________

There are four questions that Paul asks in Romans 10:14-15. Read Romans 10:14 and let’s look at the first question.

1) “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed?”

According to what we learned in Romans 10:9-10 what do we believe with? Fill in the blanks with your answer or draw a picture of it below.

___ ___ ___ ___ ___

According to what we learned in Romans 10:10 what comes first? Circle the correct answer.

 mouth confesses         heart believes

2) “How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard?”

Look back at Romans 10:8. Is the word very far away from you? Circle the correct answer.

Yes, it is far away         No, it is near you

If people cannot believe with their heart if they have not heard, them who should we tell about Jesus? Circle the correct answer.

Everyone     Only people we like     No one

3)And how will they hear without a preacher?”

The word for “preacher” in the Greek is kérussó and it means to proclaim, to herald, to publish.

THINK ABOUT IT…

Is it only the responsibility of your Preacher or Pastor to tell people about Jesus? If this word in the Greek means to proclaim, to herald, to publish… who can do this? Who can tell someone about Jesus? Who can write someone a letter about Jesus?

Can you?

Should you?

Who can you write a letter to write now and tell about the good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Remember that it the power to save is in the gospel! It doesn’t matter how strong you are, how old you are, or how smart you are. Salvation is God’s business.

So go ahead, write that letter or tell that person that God has put on your heart or in your path.

Now let’s look at that question 3 some more.

And how will they hear without a preacher?”

How long do you think God has been proclaiming the good news? Let’s look at some cross-references to find out.

Look up and read:

Acts 8:26-39

Luke 24:13-35

Isaiah 52:6-10

Psalm 19:1-4

Genesis 3:15

Genesis 4:26

THINK ABOUT IT…

WOW! Can you believe that? God has been reaching out to us from the beginning! Even when Adam and Eve disobeyed, God gave them the good news, He would save them. People have been calling on the name of the Lord since the beginning. People have been proclaiming the good news since the beginning. In Psalm 19 we see that even when people cannot share the good news, the heavens declare it! Do you remember what you read in Romans 1:20? Go ahead and read it again 🙂

Let’s move on now to our next question. We find it in Romans 10:15.

4)How will they preach unless they are sent?”

Do you think it matters who sends us?

Yes                No              I don’t know

Let’s look up and read Matthew 28:19-20. Fill in the blanks with who it is that has to send us.

___  ___  ___  ___  ___

Who sent the real prophets in the Old Testament? Look up and read Isaiah 6:8. Fill in the blanks below with your answer.

___ ___ ___

Look up and read Jeremiah 14:14. Now let me ask you again, does it matter who sends us?

Yes                No              I don’t know

Read Romans 10:15 again. What does God say about the feet of the people He sends to bring the good news?

they are  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

Do you have beautiful feet? Why don’t you take your socks and shoes off and put one foot on this sheet of paper and trace it. Then color it beautiful while you ask God to show you who you can tell His good news to!

Romans Study For Kids (Romans 10:1-4)

PPM-3.jpgMore in Romans…

Now we move right into Romans 10…

Romans 10:1-4

1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.

For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.

For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Read Romans 10:1 and compare it to Romans 9:1-5 and then answer the questions below.

Do you believe Paul wants the people of Israel to be saved?

Yes           No

Does Paul appear to be mad at them because they did not believe?

Yes            No

Look up and read John 8:48-59, Luke 23:13-25, Acts 7:51-60.

Do you think Paul had a reason to be mad at the Jewish people who did not believe?

Yes                No

Look up and read Acts 8:1-3. Did you know that the Saul in this verse is the Paul who God is using to write the book of Romans?

Yes                No

Look up and read Acts 9:1-22. What happened to Saul/Paul? Circle the right answer.

He kept killing people who believed in Jesus

He was saved and started proving Jesus was the Christ.

Read Romans 10:2. What did Paul know about the Jewish people?

they have a zeal for God, but  __ __ __  in accordance with  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

After reading these verses in Acts does it help you understand why Paul was able to not hate those who did not believe in Jesus yet?

Yes                No

Read Romans 10:3 and answer the following questions.

What did they not know about?

God’s  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

What did they do because they did not know?

they sought to establish their  __ __ __  righteousness

What did they not do?

subject  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __  to the righteousness of __ __ __

Read Romans 10:4. Who is the end of the law of righteousness to everyone who believes?

__ __ __ __ __ __

Look back and read Romans 3:19-26 and Romans 7:7. Why did God give us the Law?

Answer True or False (T or F).

_____    He was bored

_____    He wanted us to know we needed Jesus

_____    He wanted us to know we were sinners

_____    He thought we’d be good if we knew the rules

THINK ABOUT IT…

Remember God gave us the Law to point us to Jesus. As we try to keep the Law we realize we can’t. As we learn about Jesus we realize that He was the only One who ever could keep the Law of God. He is the only One who has ever lived on this earth and fulfilled God’s Law and never sinned.

It’s like Jesus stands at the finish line of a race and as we try to run it we trip and fall all over the law of God because we just can’t make it over the obstacles because of our own sin.

When we realize that we cannot make our own selves righteousness and we call out to Jesus to save us, He does. He comes to us and picks us up and carries us to the finish line.

As long as we are connected to Him we will finish the race!

Media Manipulations

PPM-3.jpg

There is a commercial on the television circuit right now that makes mine and my husband’s blood boil and our neck do that twitching thing… well there are actually many that put this red head in a fired up let-me-tell-you-what tizzy of emotion. However the one in particular today is this one…

My husband and I saw this commercial, and our 12 year old and 9 year old girls were sitting in the room with us when we saw it the first time, my husband just looked at our 12 year old and said, “Yeh. Go ahead and try that. See how far it gets you.

Guess what family doesn’t buy Yoplait anymore. That’s right. This one.

I was reminded of this day in our family after I read this quote in a post about teaching strong-willed children.

When a parent refuses to accept his child’s defiant challenge, something changes in their relationship. The youngster begins to look at his mother and father with disrespect; they are unworthy of her allegiance. More important, she wonders why they would let her do such harmful things if they really loved her. The ultimate paradox of childhood is that boys and girls want to be led by their parents but insist that their mothers and fathers earn the right to lead them.

~ Dr James Dobson

The look on this teenage girl’s face as she speaks about her mother and her mother’s authority stirs something up in my spirit that makes me want to come through that tv and adjust her attitude myself. The fact that our media plays this rebellion up and then has the audacity to act shocked over the bully trend that is raging through our schools… the defiance of the students in the classroom… the lack of respect for authority…

Why would the children raised on constant media and music that teaches them that parents are idiots or completely absent and that teachers and principals are fools or downright tyrannical power trippers looking for kids to control because they have not enough backbone to stand up to their peers… why on earth would these children respect authority or other weaker students?

We are where we are in this day because of what we have allowed.

Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life.
Put away from you a deceitful mouth
And put devious speech far from you.

Proverbs 4:22-24

The girl in that Yoplait commercial has a deceitful mouth and devious speech… When was the last time you sat down and watched what your kids were watching… I don’t mean with them. I mean when they have gone to bed, when they are not in the room… sit down and analytically watched what they watch to see what is being poured into their hearts and minds in your home, under the safety of your roof, within the fortress of your home? What outside influences are you willingly allowing on your watch?

Just imagine if you are walking in the woods with your children, if you are on a nature hike searching out for flowers and different types of leaves… your kids are looking for the pretty things but what are you on the look out for?

Snakes, spiders, bobcats, bears, mountain lions, poison oak, poison ivy, bees, wasps, hornets, and any other predators or poisons…

It is no different in our homes. Our homes are not the place to put our guard down and our feet up. We have to be on the look out for predators and it is not time to rest until the area has been searched out and declared safe. We have to guard our children’s hearts and we have to teach them how to guard their own in the process.

As the mouth reveals what is the heart, the ear determines what goes into it.

~ Bruce K. Waltke

My challenge to you as a parent… sit down watch and listen to what is going into your child’s ears on a regular basis… and as you listen evaluate whether of not these are things you want coming out of your child’s mouth and determining their actions…

NO it is not just a tv show, it is not just a movie, and it is not just a song.

Listen, O my people, to my instruction;
Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

Psalm 78

We live in an era where there is this crazy thought that we as parents have to give our children “privacy” and we are not to question them in certain areas of their life… that we are supposed to let them storm out the door and say they don’t want to talk about it and give them their “space” and allow them to “express” themselves…

We live in an era that tells us it’s healthy to pull our kids off our legs screaming for us for dear life when they are only two, three, four years old and know that they are fixing to be separated, for over eight hours-five days a week, from the ones that have sustained their life and been their place of safety and provision. Craziness. Absolute Insanity.

Hey, but don’t take my word for it… just look around you and see the results of putting “space” between parent and child.

Let’s put it in perspective…

How much “space” does God want between HIM and His children. Especially His young still growing into maturity children? Now I ask you… who is it that wants that space?

Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said…

Genesis 3:1

This is not about whether or not you are a working mom or a stay at home mom… whether you homeschool or do public school… whether you do daycare or grandparents care… This is about what goes on in your home on your watch. When you come home, do you still go one direction and your kids another? Do you tune out their shows, their music, or are you on the alert? Are you WITH THEM when you are with them? It’s okay to question them especially when you are willing to really listen to them.

Romans Study For Kids (Romans 9:14-18)

Our Romans Study For Kids continues…

Romans 9:14-18

14 What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be!

15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

16 So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy.

17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.”

18 So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires.

Read Romans 9:14. How does this verse begin? Circle the correct answer.

with a question     with a statement      with a lie

Read Romans 9:14 again. How does Paul answer the question, “There is no injustice with God, is there?”

__ __ __      __ __      __ __ __ __ __    __ __ !

THINK ABOUT IT….

Can we ever say that God is not fair?

Read Romans 9:15. What did God say to Moses? Fill in the blanks below to answer.

“I will have  __ __ __ __ __  on whom I have  __ __ __ __ __,  and I will have  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __  on whom I have __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __.”

Look up and read Deuteronomy 33:19 to see when God say this to Moses. Now read Deuteronomy 32:1 to see the context in which God says this to Moses. The children of Israel had not waited on Moses or God. They instead made a gold image of a calf and began to worship it. God could have destroyed the entire nation right then, but He didn’t. Instead He showed them mercy. They did not deserve it. They did not earn it, but God gave it anyway, because He had chosen them.

Read Romans 9:16. What does it depend on to be a child of the promise? (Romans 9:8) Circle the correct answer.

the man who wills        the man who runs        God who has mercy

Read Romans 9:17-18. Have you ever thought about how God demonstrated His power through a Pharaoh who did not serve Him or love Him?

Look up and read Exodus 7:8-13 and answer the following questions:

When Moses told Aaron to throw down his staff and God turned it into a serpent Pharaoh told his magicians to do the same thing. Were Pharaoh’s men able to turn their staffs into serpents? Circle your answer.

Yes              No

What happened to the serpents that were made by Pharaoh’s men? Circle your answer.

the magicians serpents slithered away

Aaron’s serpent ate the magicians serpents

the magicians serpents killed Aaron’s serpent

watch the video below now.

At the beginning of this video we hear Pharaoh’s magicians calling out names. These names are all names of some of the god’s that the Egyptians worshiped. The Egyptians worshiped many false gods. They even believed that Pharaoh was a god to be worshiped. The true God begins here with the staff of Aaron to begin to show Israel, Egypt, and all the surrounding nations that He is the One and Only True God.

Look up and read Exodus 7:14 – 10:10 and Exodus 12:29-30 to learn about all the plagues that God sent to Egypt.

Watch the video below now.

Each of these plagues represented the false gods that the Egyptians worshiped. God had specifically chosen these plagues and He was using the hardness of Pharaoh’s heart to show the children of Israel and all of Egypt that He alone was God. Through these plagues He was showing them that He was more powerful than any of the gods they worshiped.

Look up and read Exodus 14:5-31 to learn about the end of Pharaoh.

Watch the video below now.

Do you remember that the Egyptians also worshiped Pharaoh as a god? So God used the hardness of Pharaoh’s heart and the splitting of the Red Sea to once again show that He alone was God. He showed His power and authority over all rulers, all gods, and over all creation, like the sky and the seas.

Look up and read Joshua 2:1-13 and answer the following questions. Circle your answers:

Had other nations heard about what God had done in Egypt?

Yes                    No

Go back and read Romans 9:17. Had God displayed His power throughout the whole earth?

Yes                     No

THINK ABOUT IT….

If Pharaoh would have let the children of Israel go when Aaron’s staff was turned into a serpent and ate his magicians serpents do you think the whole earth would have heard about it?

They most likely would not. God raised Pharaoh up and used his hard heart to show the whole earth who the real God is. God also showed the world during this time that we did not have to be a child of Jacob, Isaac, or Abraham to become a child of His.

Anyone who believed in Him and obeyed Him could be His. It is still the same today. Our salvation has always came through faith. Simply believing God and taking Him at His word.

Rahab was not child of Jacob, Isaac, or Abraham but she was saved because she believed God.

Look up and read Matthew 1:1-6. Whose name do you see listed as part of the family of Jesus? Rahab! That’s right.

Do you believe God? Are you a part of the family of Jesus? Remember it is believing the gospel that saves us all.

Romans Study For Kids (Romans 9:1-13)

PPM-3.jpg

We continue in our Romans Study For Kids.

Today we will be beginning a new section in the book of Romans. We will be studying through Romans 9, Romans 10, and Romans 11. This section is called the Scope of Salvation. In this section we will be learning about God’s choice, man’s responsibility, and how God has not rejected Israel.

Let’s begin by digging into Romans 9!

Read Romans 9:1-2 and answer the following questions.

Who is the “I” in this verse?

______________________

What is he telling?

__ __ __       __ __ __ __ __

How is he telling it?

in  __ __ __ __ __ __

in the  __ __ __ __     __ __ __ __ __ __

What does he say about himself?

I am not  __ __ __ __ __

I have great  __ __ __ __ __ __  and unceasing __ __ __ __ __ in my heart

THINK ABOUT IT…

Does it sound like Paul is sad? Does it sound like he wants us to know that what he is sharing is true and that God is speaking through him?

Let’s study further to see if we can find out why Paul is so sad.

Read Romans 9:3 and answer the questions below.

What does Paul wish?

That he himself was  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __,  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

from __ __ __ __ __ __

Why does he wish this?

for the sake of my  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __, my __ __ __ __ __ __ __

Look up and read 2 Corinthians 11:22 and Philippians 3:5. Who are Paul’s brethren and kinsmen? Circle the correct answer.

Greeks        Romans         Indians        Hebrews

Read Romans 9:4. What is another name for the Hebrews?

__ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

Read Romans 9:4-5. What eight things do you learn about the Israelites?

1) to whom belongs the _______________________________

2) and the _______________________________

3) and the _______________________________

4) and the _______________________________

5) and the ________________________________

6) and the ________________________________

7) whose are the ________________________________

8) and from whom is the _______________________

Now let’s take some time to find out what these eight things you just listed from Romans 9:4-5 are all about. It is time for some cross-referencing so that we can let Scripture interpret (or explain) Scripture. You don’t have to write anything down. I just want you to look it up, read, and discover!

1) Look up and read Exodus 4:21-22 to find out when the Israelites received God’s adoption as sons.

2) Look up and read Exodus 40:34-35 to find out what glory the Israelites received.

3) Look up and read Genesis 17:1-7 to find out about the covenant.

4) Look up and read Deuteronomy 5:1-22 to find out about the giving of the Law

5) Look up and read Exodus 25:8-9 , 1 Kings 6:1, and Hebrews 9:1 to learn about the temple. This was first the tabernacle, then Solomon built the house of the Lord.

6) Look up and read Genesis 12:1-3 to learn about the promises.

7) Look up and read Acts 3:13 to learn who the fathers were.

8) Look up and read Matthew 1:1-16 to learn how Jesus came from the Israelites.

WOW! That was an awesome time of study! Good job! How about taking a break now and just think about all that you just learned.

Read Romans 9:5. What three things do you learn about Christ in this verse?

1) He came from the Israelites according to the flesh (He was born a Jew)

2) He is  __ __ __ __   __ __ __

3) He is  __ __ __    __ __ __ __ __ __ __  forever

THINK ABOUT IT…

If all that you learned by digging in to Romans 9:4-5 is true, then why is Paul so upset. What have his brethren, the Israelites, not believed?

I hope you have said, the gospel

Remember that is what Paul has been teaching us about up to this point. Remember that the theme of the book of Romans is that the gospel is the power of salvation and that salvation is by faith, the righteous man shall live by faith (Romans 1:16-17).

So now the question is, if all this that you learned about the Israelites is true, then has God’s Word and His promises failed?

Let’s keep studying to find out!

Read Romans 9:6.

How does Paul answer the question we just asked?

But it is  __ __ __  as though the word of God has failed.

Has God’s Word failed? Circle the correct answer.

Yes                 No

Read Romans 9:6-7. How does Paul explain that God’s Word has not failed?

For they are  __ __ __  all  __ __ __ __ __ __  who are descended from

__ __ __ __ __ __  nor are they all  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ because they

are  Abraham’s  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

Look up and read Genesis 22:15-19. We learn about two sons in this verse.  Circle the name of the son that God said was the son of the covenant and the son that was promised by God.

Ishmael             Isaac

Look up and read Galatians 3:6-9. In verse 7 who are the sons of Abraham?

those who are of  __ __ __ __ __

Now look back in our study to Romans 2:28-29 and let us remember what we have already leaned about who is a true Jew or Israelite.

he is a Jew who is one  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

Read Romans 9:8. Who are the children of God? Circle the correct answer.

children of the flesh         children of the promise

Read Romans 9:9. What was the word of promise?

At this time I will come, and  __ __ __ __ __  will have a son

Read Romans 9:10. Who do you read about in this verse?

__ __ __ __ __ __ __     and     __ __ __ __ __

Read Romans 9:10-13. How many kids did Isaac and Rebekah have? Circle your answer.

1             3           5           2

Were they twins? Circle your answer.

Yes                No

Read Romans 9:10-13 again and decide whether the following statement are True or False. Fill in the blank with a T or F.

_______   Jacob did a better job of making God happy that is why God loved him more.

_______   Rebekah and Isaac got to pick the child they wanted God to bless.

_______  God said the older kid is always boss.

_______  God had chosen before the children were born who would be the child to carry the promise.

_______  The works of the children had nothing to do with God’s choice

Look up and read Matthew 1:2. Which of Isaac and Rebekah’s sons is in the family of Jesus?

____________________

Look up and read Galatians 3:16, 26-29. Who is the promised seed or son that allows us to be descendants of Abraham? Circle the correct answer.

Isaac           Ishmael           Jesus           Superman

Just to know, look up and read Genesis 3:15 to find out when this promise was first given.

THINK ABOUT IT…

Do you remember that we have already learned earlier in Romans that salvation comes from believing God. We learned that salvation has always been by faith.

God made a promise right after the fall that He would send a seed to be our Savior. Since the garden He has chosen who would carry that seed from family to family until Jesus would come.

We can follow this all the way through the Bible. Below is just part of the trail:

Adam to Seth to Noah to Shem to Abraham to Isaac to Jacob to Judah to David to Jesus…

God made a promise and He kept it. It didn’t matter how bad the men had messed up, when God called them they came, and God protected them because He was protecting the promise and the seed.

Romans 9:11 assures us that God saves and keeps us saved according to His choice and His purpose and His promise. How important is it to you to know this about God when you have messed up?

Isn’t it great to know that God keeps us saved in Jesus because He promised He would.

That’s enough for today. We will look at Romans 9:14-18 next.

Amazing Grape

PPM-3.jpg

Yesterday morning I red an article, We are going to home school our kids, but that’s only because we hate education. I posted this article on my personal FB page. Then I began to scroll through and read the response comments on the post… this is where my blood pressure began to rise… what irritated me was two comments that are repeated over and over and over and over and over by parents.

1) I don’t have the patiences with my own kids

2) I turned out just fine(okay)/my kids turned out just fine(okay)

My personal FB page posted emotional response to these comments after I deleted much of it…

I am sorry, but I don’t want my kids to just “turn out okay” I want them to be excellent! I am sorry, but if I don’t have “the patience” to teach my own children… then I need to get on my face before God and repent and find out why. Thank God in heaven that He never looked at me said “I don’t have the patience to teach you”. Patience is learned and it is the fruit of the Spirit. I teach my children at home and I struggle, I take many deep breathes, I rely on the promises of God minute by minute… I just simply believe that if I can’t learn enough patience to teach my own kids or learn enough love to at least like my own children then I have a serious spiritual problem and it needs addressed NOW.

For some reason there were those that found this offensive…

Notice this is all addressed to myself. This “rant” as I called it… is all things that I myself had to address in myself as a parent. Believe it or not patience is not natural to me, and it especially was not natural with my children… God had to teach it too me. And yes, the problem was not my children… the problem was me. The problem was my own spiritual immaturity… is my own spiritual immaturity. Trust me, I have far from arrived.

I had to get on my face before God and repent of how I responded to my children. I had to ask God why did I lack so much patience with them? If you were to pick up my journals and read them, you would see over and over again where I had cried out, God help me… I need more patience! You don’t even have to find my journals. my goodness, the world can read them here: He’s Still Working On MeThe Angry VoiceLadies!

Do you know what His answer was.

You don’t need more patience… you need more of Me, you just need more knowledge of My Word, you just need to keep growing, keep trusting, keep learning, keep stepping out in faith believing My Word… and all these things will be added to you.

God taught me to stop when I was in the midst of an overwhelming situation and just breathe and I would pray, God I need more of Your Holy Spirit, more of You, more of Your grace… and in that moment I would meditate on

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?

Luke 11:13

********************

He who has received His testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true. For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure.

John 3:33-34

**********************

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us Romans 5:1-5

Moms and Dads, we have to teach our children and shame on us if we use our own lack of patience as an excuse not too. I am not saying everyone should homeschool. I am saying that loving our kids is mandatory and desiring their excellence is mandatory… teaching them is mandatory.

You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

2 Timothy 3:14-16

Now, who is the “whom” in this passage of Scripture?

For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.

2 Timothy 1:5

He learned them from his mother… since childhood.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9

We cannot be called children of God and think that we can look at God and say, well I just did not have the patience to teach my own kids, so I left that to someone else to do. WE CAN’T. It simply doesn’t work that way. If we don’t have enough patience to teach and train our own children we have to come before God and find out why… and be willing to receive what He says and start taking the steps we need to take to allow His Spirit to produce His fruit in us.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

Notice the fruit is singular, it’s not fruits of the Spirit, but fruit of the Spirit. Have you ever wondered why fruit? In various places in the Scripture the Word of God compares Christ to a vine. So let’s just look at the grape for our example. Why don’t you go ahead and read this article on growing grapes.

Now lets do some comparing. The article said: When you plant your grapevine in the spring, it’s just a small set of shoots. It can grow relatively quickly in the first year, developing a thick trunk and side canes that require training along a trellis, fence or wire system. But it’s not ready to produce grapes.

When we first receive Jesus as our Saviour, He saves us and puts His Spirit within us, we and those around us usually see a change in us. There is this quick excitement and fire in us and all of a sudden out of nowhere we are excited about God… but as we walk in this new life we find that we still lack in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control part… oh we may know better now… but the carrying out of it, the bearing the fruit of it, we find difficult. That’s because we are still to immature.

Remember the article began with: Your backyard grapevine can take up to three years to produce viable grapes, but that timeline is based on several environmental factors as well as how you care for the plant. Sunlight and well-drained soil are key to grape production, as is proper pruning.

In our new life, God has to first begin the pruning… Pruning is one of the most important factors in grape production. Grapes develop only on new growth, which sprouts from 1-year-old wood. This is one reason why most vines don’t produce grapes in their second year — the whole plant is only 1 year old, so its main job is support instead of grapes.

During the first years of our salvation God is cultivating in us a foundation of support for the fruit He wants to produce in us. He has to prune away all that is of our old nature, His fruit doesn’t come from our old talents or old personality… His fruit comes from Him. He has to prune on us, so that we learn the difference… or we would become arrogant and think it was all us… and not simply a result of His Spirit in us, working through and out of us.

To grow and bear the fruit of the Spirit we have to spend time in the SON: Without the necessary sunlight, grapes won’t develop properly, regardless of the vine’s age. Grapevines can grow in partial shade, but they are unlikely to produce much fruit unless they get a significant amount of sun — up to seven or eight hours per day.

How much time do you spend soaking in the Word of God? The Son is the Word made flesh… No SonLight… no Fruit… Little SonLight… little fruit. It’s that simple. Are you willing to spend 7 to 8 hours a day soaking in the Word of God? Imagine the growth that could take place within you if He was your mediation…  how much time do you spend on other things that could be spent in the Son?

The article also shared, This is also why neglected vines don’t produce many grapes. The upper level of leaves often shades lower levels, keeping the leaves from absorbing the necessary sunlight to help the plant develop fruit

I believe this could be a warning to those who choose to lord their positions of authority over other believers, instead of getting out of the way and helping them get in the Son for themselves.

The article shared that you can’t use your eyes to tell you when the grapes are ready.

You see you can’t look at yourself or anyone else and tell the level of their spiritual maturity… only the inside can reveal that… and the only way to get to the inside is to taste it for yourself. You have to break the outside so that what is on the inside can burst forth… so sometimes God has to put us in situations so that we can see what is going on inside of us… so we can see how “ripe” or spiritually mature we are… and by the way our kids and our spouse and our family and those within our church, and those we work with or go to school with or drive down the road with… are all great at opening our eyes to our lack of spiritual maturity. Whenever we think we are big enough to get off the Vine, God is real quick to remind us… we are so not ready!

My favorite part of the article was at the end: Each year can be different, so don’t use the previous year’s harvest date by default. For example, one summer might be sunny with little cloud cover, while the next is overcast nearly every day. Because grapes need sun to ripen properly, it takes longer in years with more cloudy days.

Be encouraged moms and dads… and all believers. There will be years of great fruit bearing… but there will also be cloudy seasons when growth is slow and little fruit is evident and when this happens, when you realize this is what is happening… RUN TO THE SON!

The article began with If you’ve neglected an older grapevine, it could stop producing until it gets some attention from you.

Maybe you became a believer as a child… and maybe its been a while since you have been in the Word… maybe you have never really ever been in the Word… maybe you have realized that love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control are simply not things that hang on you or bear from you… with your kids, with your spouse, with others, with even yourself. If you know that you know that you know that you are indeed in the Vine, then you were created to bear fruit, the fruit of the Spirit… its just that you have neglected the Vine… if that’s you… it’s time to call on the Vinedresser (John 15).

Believe me, God does not just want you or your kids to just turn out okay or just fine…

“You are altogether beautiful, my darling,
And there is no blemish in you.

Song of Solomon 4:7

**************

For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works

Psalm 139:13-14

****************

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God

1 Peter 2:9-10

So my friend if it patience that you feel you lack in order to have the ability to teach your own children… know that God is here to supply especially that and all things that you need…

But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:18-20

Notice in this verse that God also used the church to help meet the needs of Paul… this brings us to Titus 2… and Hebrews 10:25… and Galatians 6:2. I encourage you to look those up for yourself…
