With my Cross Guard kids at Shiloh we are already digging into Romans 11… so here is the handout for the rest of Romans 10. I am working on Romans 11:1-6 right now. Hopefully I will have it ready to post today 🙂

Today we are going to begin digging into Romans 10:16-21. Our focus today will be to take a close look at Romans 10:16-17.

Romans 10:16-21

However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

18 But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”

19 But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says, “I will make you jealous by that which is not a nation, By a nation without understanding will I anger you.”

20 And Isaiah is very bold and says, “I was found by those who did not seek Me, I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”

21 But as for Israel He says, “All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

Read Romans 10:17 again. If faith comes from hearing, what is it we need to hear?

THINK ABOUT IT…

Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. The last part of this verse can also be read by the word concerning Christ. What is this word of Christ? What is it that we need to hear about Christ?

Look up and read the following verses out loud:

John 1:29, John 3:16, John 3:36, John 6:40, John 11:25, and John 14:6.

When you read these verses and when you hear these verses, do you believe what they say?

Do you know that the word faith in the Greek is “pistis” and it means conviction of the truth of anything, belief.

So faith and belief are the same thing. To have faith in God we have to believe Him.

Do you believe Him?

How do you know that you believe Him?

What will we do if we believe what God says?

Why don’t you take a moment to look back at Romans 10:16.

If we believe, we will heed. We might have to learn to heed, but if we really believe we will heed. That’s enough for today! Why not take a moment to talk to God about what you believe about Jesus.

*********************   If you are doing this study with your child stop here and begin the rest tomorrow. We want to give them time to process all they have just learned******************
