Now we move right into Romans 10…

Romans 10:1-4

1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.

For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.

For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Read Romans 10:1 and compare it to Romans 9:1-5 and then answer the questions below.

Look up and read Acts 9:1-22. What happened to Saul/Paul? Circle the right answer.

After reading these verses in Acts does it help you understand why Paul was able to not hate those who did not believe in Jesus yet?

Read Romans 10:3 and answer the following questions.

God’s  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __

What did they do because they did not know?

they sought to establish their  __ __ __  righteousness

What did they not do?

subject  __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __  to the righteousness of __ __ __

Read Romans 10:4. Who is the end of the law of righteousness to everyone who believes?

__ __ __ __ __ __

Look back and read Romans 3:19-26 and Romans 7:7. Why did God give us the Law?

Answer True or False (T or F).

_____    He was bored

_____    He wanted us to know we needed Jesus

_____    He wanted us to know we were sinners

_____    He thought we’d be good if we knew the rules

THINK ABOUT IT…

Remember God gave us the Law to point us to Jesus. As we try to keep the Law we realize we can’t. As we learn about Jesus we realize that He was the only One who ever could keep the Law of God. He is the only One who has ever lived on this earth and fulfilled God’s Law and never sinned.

It’s like Jesus stands at the finish line of a race and as we try to run it we trip and fall all over the law of God because we just can’t make it over the obstacles because of our own sin.

When we realize that we cannot make our own selves righteousness and we call out to Jesus to save us, He does. He comes to us and picks us up and carries us to the finish line.

As long as we are connected to Him we will finish the race!
